KEOKUK – David Bruce Trone, 71, of Keokuk, died Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2022, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Illinois, surrounded by his family.

He was born July 27, 1951, in Beardstown, Illinois, the son of Collis and Ruth Stambaugh Trone.

David graduated from Keokuk High School with the class of 1969.

On April 10, 1970, David was united in marriage with Sharon Johnson in Keokuk. They spent the next 52 years together in Keokuk where they made their home and raised their family.

David had been employed at Trellex Morse as an extruder operator from 1971 until his retirement in 2000.

He was a member of First Christian Church in Keokuk.

David was an avid sports fan and enjoyed playing tennis. He also enjoyed playing his guitar. He was a people person by nature and could strike up a conversation with anyone, even a stranger. He was a beloved husband, dad, grandpa and great-grandpa who was always there to share a laugh, offer advice and help in any way he could.

Throughout his long struggle with his illness his faith, family and an unsinkable sense of humor kept him going and was an inspiration to all around with his courage and positive outlook.

He is survived by his wife Sharon Trone of Keokuk; two sons, Danny Trone (Patricia) of Kahoka, Missouri, and Jason Trone (Melissa) of Kahoka; one daughter Carmen Jones (Scott) of Hamilton, Illinois; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister Linda Cerminara (Greg) of Shelton, Connecticut; and one sister-in-law Billie Jean Hyatt (Dale) of Keokuk; along with many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Eddie Trone and Jerry Trone; and a niece Tammy Newlon.

Visitation will be after 1 p.m. Monday with family meeting with friends from 5-7 p.m. at Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk.
